2021 Season Registration

Get ready for the season by clicking the link below and registering today. You cannot play in a game or get your gear unless you are registered. If the registration fee is a financial burden, there is the option of a payment plan, otherwise please reach out to the club and email president@cavaliersrugby.com.  We have helped many girls and their families over the years with the registration fee in one way or another, and do not want the cost to be a deterrent from playing rugby. If you are confused about any part of the registering process, please see the video on the right that walks through registering. If you still have questions please email president@cavaliersrugby.com

Registration Walk Through

This video walks through how to register a player for the upcoming season.  It is geared towards registering for HS girls, but the basics are the same. PLEASE NOTE MS GIRLS: in the video it says to register for HS Girls, that is a mistake, please register for middle school, as the registration cost is a little cheaper. HOWEVER when you receive the email about selecting uniform options, please choose HS because you only need shorts and socks - jerseys will be provided for you. If you have any questions please email ladycavsrugby@gmail.com

Parents - Get Involved!

Cavaliers Rugby is a 100% volunteer organization and we always need help. A large portion of our coaches are or were parents of players. If you would like to help out at practice - in any capacity, we would love to have you - no training needed. Come out to a practice, meet the other coaches and see what it's about.

2020 Season is underway

Our season is underway, and our first games are quickly approaching. Here are some updates:

Practice times have been extended, MS and HS girls will now practice Tuesdays and Thursdays 7-9pm.

If you have not registered for the season, now is the time. You will not be able to play in any games unless you are registered. Additionally, updates to the registration and game set up process mean that this year you can no longer register the night before/morning of. If you have any questions at all about registration, please reach out to coach Steve or email ladycavsrugby@gmail.com. Please make sure you have filled out all the registration forms, even if you are not able to pay the registration amount at this time. We can work with you on that, but the forms MUST be completed in order to play in games.

Our season opener is the annual girls high school kick off tournament next Saturday 2/22. Details will be uploaded as soon as we know them. Please make sure you have the proper equipment to play in a game - cleats, mouth guard, black socks, and black shorts. Jerseys are provided and are handed out each game. If you have questions about what to wear please email ladycavsrugby@gmail.com

A preliminary high school season schedule will be uploaded soon. Please note that middle school does not always follow the same schedule as high school. We will try and get you information about the middle school season as soon as we know anything.

2020 Season is Officially Starting

Our first official practice of the season is upon us - Tuesday December 2nd at Fallon Sports Park in Dublin from 7-8:30pm. If you need a ride to practice, players please reach out via the group chat to see if anyone from your area can give you a ride, otherwise email ladycavsrugby@gmail.com and the coaches will help find a solution to get you to practice.

We would like to see everyone at practice, please don't worry if you haven't registered yet - you will still be allowed to practice. But please do register as soon as you are able so that we have a better idea of numbers and aren't waiting until the last minute.

     Things to bring to practice:
-Mouthguard - Rugby is a contact sport, and requires a mouthguard to play. You can buy them for pretty cheap at any major athletic store such as Big5, Dicks, Sport Authority, etc. They do not need to be the fanciest most expensive one on the rack to work well, and mouthguards get lost on the field all the time. NOTE: Mouthguards require molding before use - this requires you do stick them in boiling water and then bite on them to form them to your teeth. As such please don't just buy a mouthguard on your way to practice as it will not be useable until it has been molded.
-Wear comfortable clothes that you can work out in and don't mind getting wet - its been raining all week so the fields are likely to be damp
-Wear cleats if you have them - soccer cleats work just fine. Football cleats will work for now but most football cleats cannot be worn in a match. If you have any questions about footwear, there is a link to the USA Rugby rules about what can be worn in a match. Also feel free to bring whatever you have and the coaches can talk to you about what might be best.
-If you don't have any cleats thats okay, wear some sort of athletic shoes that you can run around in, and don't mind getting a little damp. But please try and avoid shoes like converse or vans as they are not good shoes to be running in.
-Layers - Its getting to be winter, and the temperatures are dropping. Please bring layers for both during practice and after. Sweat pants and sweatshirts are great
-A water bottle - hydration is important, and we will be running and exercising for 1.5 hours. It is important to drink water before, during, and after practice to take care of your body.
-Inhaler - if you hav asthma or any other medical condition that requires an inhaler, please make sure you keep one in your bag and bring it to practice in case you need it.

If you have any questions please email ladycavsrugby@gmail.com

Free Rugby Clinic Days & Thanksgiving Camp

Pleasanton Cavaliers are hosting a series of free 'try rugby 'rugby clinic days in the bay area leading up to the official beginning of our season.  These days are completely free, open to anyone - boys or girls - any age, any experience level.  They are a great introduction to rugby if you've never played before, or if you've already played for the Cavaliers, its a great day to bring a friend and introduce them to rugby.

Our next 'try rugby' day is Saturday, November 16th in Hayward.  The official address is 22100 Princeton Street, Hayward which is Silver Oak High School.  We will be playing on the school's football field, which has a small parking lot on the corner of Western Blvd. and Laurel Ave. Please reach out if you are in need of a ride - we have people coming from all over the bay area who are more than willing to help out with rides.

The next 'try rugby' event is our free two day Thanksgiving Camp which will take place on Monday November 25 and Tuesday November 26 at Robertson Park in Livermore.  High School Boys and Girls will be practicing in the morning - 8am - 12pm. The link to register is below:

There is no cost - but please register so we have emergency contact information, and a general idea of numbers. This also ensures we have the correct size for your shirt!

Fundraising for Nationals - Donations via SnapRaise

It's that time of the year again - we are fundraising to go to nationals. This year, nationals will take place in Salt Lake City, Utah on Friday May 17th and Saturday May 18th. Our team policy is that any girl who would like to attend can come, regardless of financial situation - we leave no one behind. As such, we fundraise as much as we can to cover the cost of hotel rooms, vans, a team dinner, registration fees, and food and water during matches. We use SnapRaise as our major fundraising partner. For anyone looking to donate, please follow the link above to donate to our team. All donations are tax deductible, and every little counts. Another way to help is to spread the word by sharing the link on your social media, sending emails to friends and family members, or talking to work friends. If you follow the link, there is a 'share' button to make it easy to share via social media or email. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to email a coach using the link on the right side of this page. We are so close to our goal and are looking for the last little push.

Calendar Updated - Closing Out the Season

Our season is beginning to wrap up - we have played all of our official league matches and just have our championship match(es), the NorCal tournament that we host, and nationals left.  Please note that the Wednesday night Idaho game has been canceled as they did not have enough players. Take a look at the 'matches' tab to see the results from all our previous games, and check out the 'photos' tab for some recently uploaded photos of our last few games.

Practice will continue to be biweekly throughout the rest of the season but look out for time/place changes as we get into April - we may switch to our summer practice place - Emerald Glen Park.  We also have six more weeks at FitLab on Mondays - which is considered a required practice unless you have talked to coach.  We have seen great performance benefits as well as decreased incidences of injury from the girls who have attended previously, so please take full advantage of this opportunity, and as always contact a captain or a coach if you need a ride - we are always available to help!

Updated Calendar

The calendar has received its most recent update as of 2/27/19. The NorCal tournament that we host is tentatively scheduled for two days, and Nationals is on the schedule.  More details about both of these events will be coming out soon. Due to the Las Vegas 7s tournament this weekend, there are no games scheduled.  Many families go down to watch the tournament, and a couple of our girls will even play for club teams this weekend.  This coming weekend (3/2/19) will be our last bye-week until the middle of April, so enjoy the time off, heal up, and be ready to push hard through the latter half of our season.

At the end of March, we will be hosting a team from Idaho for a Wednesday night game (3/27). Please take note of this and plan accordingly.  We will not have a game the following Saturday (3/30) but we do have a game the prior Saturday (3/23).

Due to weather, a number of girls being in Las Vegas, and a desire to allow recovery during this bye-week, this Thursdays practice will take place at Coach Stu and Alex's house where we will be doing and in depth film review of last weekends game.  Practice is still mandatory for all those who are not in Las Vegas.  Please contact the captains for the address.

Our Monday night FitLab sessions have officially started - 6:30pm at Up2Speed in Pleasanton.  We will be working on fitness, recovery, injury prevention, running technique, body mobility, and body awareness. This is an amazing opportunity for our girls - and is at no cost to them. Players please make sure to attend - reach out to the other girls if you need rides or such.  Parents you are welcome to come observe a session to see what its all about.

Away Game at Danville

Last week, we did a quick switch Friday night after the weather forecast for Saturday predicted lightning in Elk Grove, and instead we hosted them in Livermore instead. It was a grueling, well-fought match that was finished up just before the rain came back.

This past week has shown some very low temperatures at practices, but the girls have pushed through and worked hard in preparation for this weekends game.

Saturday's games will be in Danville, at Diablo Vista Park.  Middle school will be kicking off at 2:30pm and High School will be kicking off at 3:30pm. Please try and be around to support both teams, middle and high school, regardless of which you (or your child) plays on.  Middle school will play one game with 2x 10 min halves. High school will play one game with 2x 30 min halves.  It will most likely be cold, windy, and probably wet, so please bring layers, bring a trash bag to cover your things during the game, bring towels, and a change of clothes. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the game!

Kick-Off Festical in Elk Grove

The season has officially begun! Both the middle school and the high school girls teams began their season last weekend (1/19) in Elk Grove at the girls kick off tournament.

The high school team played Bishop O'Dowd, the Amazons, and a combined Berkley, Alameda, and Milpitas team. It was a super day for the high school side who went 3-0 over the course of the day, and are currently ranked 3rd in the NorCal Girls HS pre-season rankings out of 18 teams. We are looking forward to what this talented and dedicated team will do this season.

The middle school team also played their first games last weekend at the tournament. They played against Elk Grove, Gridley, and , and went 2-1. We are so proud of our middle school team who played all day with 7 players, no subs, many of whom it was their first rugby game or their first game at this level. They improved so much even just of the course of the day it will be exciting to see where they go this season!

There is a new photo album up with pictures from the tournament and if you have any pictures you took and would like them to be included, them click the email button in the "contact a coach" box on the right, and we will put them up!

Lastly, don't forget, it's not too late to join - middle school or high school - we are always welcoming new players! Come out for a practice or two and see what it's all about! Bring your friends and introduce them to a new sport!
